A species of GAMMARETROVIRUS causing leukemia,lymphosarcoma,immune deficiency,or other degenerative diseases in cats. Several cellular oncogenes confer on FeLV the ability to induce sarcomas (see also SARCOMA VIRUSES,FELINE).
